Breville 800GRXL Die-Cast Indoor Barbeque and Grill
Reviews:

starsIts BIG and gets the job done.
I had the Breville 800GRXL interior grill for one month now. We do not use it weekly paper and problems had. It lasts when to the heat above (I would estimate 5-8 minutes), but, as soon as it is ready, cooks it very well. It is downward arranged that the plates are not removeable, but it cleans VERY easily. We use straight papiertuecher and a bowl water, in order to wipe it off down, while its calm warm themselves. The Nichtstock end keeps well up to now high. As I said, large and set you must be it close of a entlueftungsoeffnung hood, if you cook a quantity meat. The BUILT IN gutter container is sketched good and LOCKS THEMSELVES in place. My old George foreman gutter container was badly adjusted frequently by my large Dane - she finally destroyed him to the point, which he did not hold for no more the roast fats. It cannot run away with the Breville gutter container, but I have myself it their tongue into it slide gotten caught - roughly, I know! Entire I LOVE the Breville... his better thought out, in an educated manner of the high speed materials and pleases aesthetically - it would act not for all combined George foreman grill!

Added Feb 24 08:
Finally I was contacted by a Breville rep that seemed interested in what I had to say and we covered this review point by point. BUT: at no time did he express any concern that he had a VERY dissatisfied customer on his hands. Two "Goods" that I should have mentioned are the "Briefcase Storage" and the finger hole in the plug (both most clever and useful ideas). And after a few days the "Boa Constrictor" cord relaxed noticeably, a good thing.

Breville800GRXL: The Good, The Bad, . . .

First: am I the only person in the cosmos that notices shortcomings in design and execution?

The Good:
1. Solid, seems well-made.
2. Seems to heat more evenly than most.
3. Does a good job of cooking (caveat: see 2 & 3 below)
4. Fantastic for cooking several full slices of bacon at one time (five large strips).
5. Would you believe? It does frozen fries quite well.
6. Grease recovery design is very good, quite clever even. BUT: if you have to empty the drip pan in the middle of a long cooking session, be sure to put paper towels under the drip area. A spout (a la teakettle) on the rear would be most helpful.

The Bad:
1. Not nearly so non-stick as the hype claims (rather poor compared to some other non-stick cookware that I use). Can be quite difficult to clean. If the top surface is allowed to touch an egg, the egg will stick to it (when you lift the top surface, the egg will go with it ("hang from the ceiling"). I have even had bacon stick and lift in this manner. "Incredibly easy to clean" is a stratospheric flight of fancy. Well, I guess there's hype and then there's "hype."
2. Cooking surfaces won't stay parallel (unless you manually hold it for the duration - and if you let go you may screw up the food).
3. "Thickness" adjustments are balky/klunky/iffy. And the adjustment control can get too hot to touch.
4. "Thickness" adjustments are too coarse (ie, you can't make fine adjustments for food thickness). It's a case of (usually) too much or too little.
5. The leveling handle (top right) and height slider can get too hot to touch.
6. You just about have to get on your knees to read the control panel.
7. The top surface, if allowed full weight against a burger, doesn't put "stripes," it puts ditches. Here's an instance where parallel surfaces and fine adjustment are really needed. And note: a 1-1/2" thick sandwich will be squished to 1/2" at the top, 3/4" at the bottom. And have ditches, not stripes. DO NOTE: it's advertised that the height control gives "precise" control for paninis and delicate fish. There's nothing precise or delicate about height (thickness) adjustment increments of 1/2" and crushing weight.

The Ugly:
1. Drips grease on the counter behind the unit (a BIG mess, the more you cook the bigger the mess).
2. Messy to clean because it is so difficult.
3. To clean it at all, it must be hot enough that it will BURN you.
4. Overall, it is NOT user-friendly; too many things that it should do but doesn't. One example: having to manually hold settings is not acceptable, especially when the leveling handle gets too hot to touch.
5. The cord is packaged (as all usually are) so that it has a "set" like a Boa Constrictor. Python? It would be SO easy to do better.

I always wonder: do the people that design things such as this ever take them for a test drive before putting them on the market?

If the manufacturer would correct the deficiencies, this would be a fantastic product.

Two weeks prior to writing this review, I talked to Breville CS. The lady was very personable and her overall response to all the above complaints was "Gee, that's too bad." I was promised a follow-up call which I never did get, so I wrote this review and sent a copy (email) to Breville. I got what I perceive to be a sarcastic one- sentence brush-off from Jomal Bush ("Is there anything I can do to assist you at this time?"). Note: IT HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE CLEAR to me that Breville had NO INTEREST in any corrective action of any kind.

And, it seems, customer comments or suggestions are of no interest or value.

It's better than a George Forman Grill. But the bad part is, it don't have revisable plates.

starsBreville 800 GRXL Indoor Barbeque and Grill
FANTASTISCH!!!! I enjoy the feinschmecker, cook and may the best equipment have available to also cook. I have a "GEORGE FOREMAN" grill and he NOT even come near at the 800 GRXL in each regard. I find that the 800 GRXL grill met and exceeded all my from and from expectations for an interior grill. The temperature regulator and the "inclination, which" are most useful lower Grilplatte, the grill, heats fast and evenly, the adjustable upper grill permits a diversity, with crickets and is outstanding for cooking the bacon and operation Sandwiches i.e. PO ' boy, grilled cheese and more. The ability of using both sides of the grill, if it is completely opened, permits reducing food preparation time to roast at the same time or crickets. The grill is extremely simple to clean and can be stored Nachgebrauch in a small area, by standing it at the end. This great grill is recommended in high of degrees and each kitchen should have.

starsGrilling indoors
We before bought panini the press of Breville. That is perfect in connection with one in the free grill. We now are in a range, which permits not in free grills. The interior grill, if extensive, if you settle phases in a small area a wonderful work and give these like in the free taste. However the ability to open grill or bratpfanne was not tried (space restrictions) into handy will in the future come. Cleaning is an annoying point.

starsproblem with non-stick surface bubbling: sooo sad!
I love this grill. Yes, it's big, but for a family of four that's good. Problem? The non-stick surface is beginning to bubble after only 9 months of light use. At first, I thought it was just food left on the grill, but, alas, it is the surface coming away. It might be possible to make the grill last another year or so, if one were careful, but I don't think this should happen so soon. I don't think I have used it more than 25 times. I have sent an email to Breville asking for information on returns/repairs. I'll update this post after they respond (assuming they do).

UPDATE:

I contacted Breville via email, and they promptly replied with information on how to send it back. Assuming they concur with my assessment of the bubbling problem, I should receive a replacement. Can't ask for better customer service than that! A+

starsbest grill out there
I constantly use this grill. It is very nice. The Design and the resemblance of the grill are 2. to none. Let us clean is above a Schnaepper. Straight ones clean a pair of the papiertuecher and the fat container. They can use it, like a press grill, where you cook material of the top side and of the lower surface, or you can open them for level and grill on each side. The flat side can be stopped to angles, while the curved side is always flat. For forming the breakfast or cooking a bundle of steaks, this thing is to be struck hard and settles a large work. If I cook breakfast, begins I mean bacon on the rib side, then grill bread or are movable pancakes on the flat side then the bacon on the flat page more rueber, as soon as she keeps going. It settles a large work on pancakes and produces a very nice even end. Largely for eggs in addition, since the Nichtstock is very good. If I use it, I leave the normally always straight temperature on full. It heats up fast (approximately 3 minutes or thus) and is ready to go. Largely for grilled cheese or for forming this would sand-yield you press/grill with upper closed (although only one page receives grill markings, it is you it easily strikes. The top side is adjustable, therefore it does not crush the food, not to wish if it it; this is useful, if you liked yourselves to warm from the top side with cooking the lower surface, there you the upper section of the grill away from the food by 1/2 a tariff to stand can or like that. Settled also a good work with Hamburgern. They cannot cook for 4 to 6 on the grill side a problem, when roasting the rolls on the flat side. If you liked to discharge the oil, the flat side thus them straight is diagonal to adjust and fat runs down into the container. The container it is created also in such a way that he gets caught fat and oil from the curved side in addition. The cooking surfaces remove not, but clean above require a straight pair of the papiertuecher. Entirely, the unit is established very well and other grills to the dishonor sets. It is also quite a little, which as the average AP kind grill is larger, which you see into the memory, therefore you have over twice the area to probably work. There is a small timer, but I never use him. Fair revolution the unit on, the heat for maximum attitude and leave you select!

starsWorks great, until the warranty expires
I wish that I could recommend the Breville grill, because, while it functioned, this was a large machine. In the world of the interior grills, which, which for giving you flat twice the grilling range opens. The GRXL 800 opens the flat and zerfurchten surfaces you flat at the same time gives. The Nichtstock grilling surface is very large, (the largest in their is category). The top side and the lower plates are sketched to discharge around fat away from your meal into a particular push out container containers (although I cannot say that it always functioned, as flat opened). This unit formed fantastische steaks and chicken and veggies and lets a pancake have breakfast a belt and naturally, perfect paninis. It cooks evenly from the corner to the corner and from the stays, which are applicable to the temperature, which is stopped on it. The energy source has a singular Design to separate marks it unbelievably simply; the cord is very strong and longs particularly and quite much gives oneself you the flexibility inside, where you zerstossen these 22 electricity power station put. There is a handy bolting device also established to this handle the double one as Clammy one to hold to the cap if you do not wish it your meal affecting, if the cap is closed. Controls are fundamental; a AN/AUS key with an individual red LED, a temperature regulator, a timer (a straight timer, he places not the unit off, if the cycle compelted is) and an inclination price increase. The rotary buttons are large all and form them simply to select, if you have wet fingers. The inclination price increase lets put the lower plate level (for, pancake would sand-yield) or forward tilts (with it fat and juices into the container to run out can). Unfortunately Breville supplies only the warranty of a 1jaehrigen of manufacturer. I never dreamed that I would need it, since the grill believed strongly and well established. After 15 months, he could not switch straight on completely. For approximately $180 I expected more. Fortunately I had protection of the customer on my credit card, which doubled the warranty, therefore had I to replace it with the Cuisinart Griddler..., which flat opens also, but have interchangable plates and a many more generous 3jaehrige warranty.

starsBreville Indoor BBQ
Like this very much. Use it for everything. Great to grill pizza believe it or not. Excellent for searing filet mignon. Excellent Panini's. The only complaint that I have is it size and weight makes it difficult to store. But in order to get the results you need this weight.

starsVersatile, quality product
I have had this grill for six months and used it about twenty times. it is great for family meals and for entertaining. Just get a variety of ingredients...meats, cheeses, veggies ready and let everyone assemble their own sandwich. Plenty of room for four large sandwiches.Large enough to grill some onions or meats in one cornor and then place your sandwich to the side as it heats very evenly. Or make a flatbread, slice the whole pan size in half and grill with your choice of ingredients, then cut into 3 inch squares and have hot appetizers for twelve. I have cooked chicken breasts, baked potato halves, pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, and of course many sandwiches.. all came out fine. the low setting is usually enough heat. I like the large grease outlet in the front...you can slide a whole sandwich off the grill. A hot wet paper towel when the grill cools a bit is all the cleaning necessary. Improvements? seperate temp controls for the two halves when you are using it as an open grill would be nice

starsLarge cooking surface with good temperature control
This is a great product that heats to higher temperatures than most other brands. It has a large grilling surface (184 sq. inches) on one side and a large BBQ surface (184 sq. inches) on the other.

The only negative is the lack of removable plates which means the BBQ surface can be difficult to clean. It takes a bit more time to clean than if they were removeable.

starsBREVILLE GRILL & BBQ.....FORGET IT!!!
this individual part is too largely and very difficult to use. it is the worst bought breville product panni the press does the same thing without the difficult cleaning I this individual part... too to much money... definately NOT worth the costs would recommend.

starsI like it!
I am bent impressed with the Breville quality and, in order to buy the mark in the future. Extremey well grill formed. To clean simply. To use simply. I regret that the plates are not switchable and that with this grill you are always limited to a side a grill, a side flat bratpfanne. Good thing is so large it. But, if the plates were switchable, this thing would really supply the goods. Like it, excellent quality, is good of views, the good achievement (fast!), and believes like it lasts me years. Better plan on giving it the Gegenraumes, this thing is too much heavy - to pull to in and from cabinets for so frequent as you wish it to us.

starsBREVILLE 800GRXL - SUPERIOR INDOOR GRILL
This review will be short and sweet. This is a well-built, very effective cooking machine that works perfectly. I wanted to avoid using a gas or charcoal grill, and definitely was not interested in the cheap imitations endorsed by the former heavy weight boxing champ. Sorry, George, but that is the truth of the matter. It cooks like a champ. Burgers are cooked in 5 minutes, steaks in 7 minutes and anything thicker in less than 9 minutes. It is well worth the investment. Works like a charm.

starsperfect little kitchen
I use the grill more, than I use the furnace of my own kitchen, which tastes to clean the food better less and since I do not use the furnace fewer money on my electrical calculation.

starsManly Grill
The 800RXL is a "manly" grill that will be enjoyed by all. However, know that it is large in size and that that is both an advantage and a disadvantage. For a small person, man or woman it might be a handful to lift and store. That being said, it is a wonderful kitchen appliance. It both looks and works great. The tiltable bottom plate is a very nice feature as is the adjustable top plates ability to lock at verious hights so as not to squash more delicate items.

It takes a few minutes to warm up and to cool down, but that is not surpizing given the size of the grill. The timer works well but is mechanical and sounds like an old fashion kitchen timer and it does not stop or start the cooking process. This grill iteself gets hot enough to sear meat nicely and yet folds out flat to grill and griddle at the same time.
